As Corporate Club members of the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, we are well aware of the great work they do for a community as a whole – aiming to promote a healthy, active lifestyle within the county.
Another big part of what they do is to provide valuable support to 50 talented athletes from across Lincolnshire each year through the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Programme (LEAP). These athletes are all aiming to become the best in their chosen field, and benefit from the resources on offer through the programme and Lincolnshire Sports, especially as in most cases, funding is either non existent or very limited.
We are proud to support Lincolnshire Sports and the LEAP programme, and look forward to seeing the success stories of the future – representing Lincolnshire both nationally and internationally, including future Olympic Games.
We recently met current LEAP athlete, Jade Etherington, whose success in Sochi has made her the most successful Winter Paralympian of all time. Our team were all very honoured to meet Jade and hear about her exciting experiences leading up to the Winter Olympics and future plans, but we were also very surprised at the lack of support offered in the run up to the games – and that nearly all of the associated costs were covered by herself – including Team GB membership!
