Naturally, it’s a festive theme on the blog this week, and it comes courtesy of our friends at CV-Library. They’ve surveyed professionals from across the UK, to find their favourite Christmas dessert!
What’s your favourite dessert to have on Christmas day? With so many varying traditions across the nation, we surveyed 1,000 UK professionals to finally put an end to the debate.
Curious? You should be! Below we’ll outline the findings in more detail – revealing once and for all which dessert you guys voted as your all-time Christmas favourite.
Christmas pudding for the win!
Participants of the survey were given a choice of up to 15 desserts to choose from, with Christmas pudding revealing itself to be the winner. In fact, it received the majority vote of 25.4% (that’s one in four professionals).
Interestingly, there was a very apparent age divide when it came to choosing a favourite, with those over 55 sticking with tradition. Almost two thirds (60.2%) of this age group voted for the Christmas pud! Their next favourites were a cheese board (24.8%) and trifle (23.8%).
Millennials are all about the cheesecake
As with so many things, the younger generation are stepping away from the traditional dessert, with one in four (26.5%) opting for cheesecake to wash down their Christmas dinner. That’s compared to just 11.1% of those aged over 25.
But there wasn’t just an age divide either. The results also threw out some interesting findings when it came to locations and industries across the UK. More on these findings below.
Don’t trifle with the Scots
Despite the national favourite being Christmas pudding, those of you in Scotland revealed that you prefer trifle (19.4%), with Christmas pudding coming in second place (16.7%).
That said, Geordies were the most likely to prefer trifle, with one in four (22.2%) saying they pick this over any other dessert.
Puddings by sector
The survey also revealed that automotive professionals were most likely to prefer Christmas pudding (57.1%), while people working in catering were most likely to favour cheesecake (28.6%).
