Boston is a town in South-East Lincolnshire with a population of around 60,000. A famous market town, which still holds markets on a Wednesday and Saturday every week. The town itself is full of history both local and international. Boston is notably the origin of the Pilgrim Fathers who departed from a nearby village called Fishtoft. They set off in 1607 and eventually landed in America, via the Netherlands, 13 years later. The city of Boston, Massachusetts takes its name due to these explorers, after their voyage on the Mayflower from Plymouth in 1620.
In the present day there are landmarks celebrating this connection. A monument still stands in Fishtoft; and the Guildhall museum includes interactive displays in the building where the Pilgrim Fathers were imprisoned, after their first failed attempt to escape to America.
The town’s most famous attraction is St Botolph’s Church or The Stump. It is one of the highest medieval towers in the country, standing at 83m (272 feet) tall! The Stump is still open to the public and provides fantastic views. Be prepared for a climb though! The tower has 209 steps, over 12 floors.
In terms of entertainment, the town has the Savoy Cinema with the same area featuring some excellent restaurants with a diverse array of cuisine. On the edge of town you can find the Boston Bowl offering entertainment to suit all ages. The updated facility now offers Bowling, a Nerf Centre, a large play centre and an American Diner. On a Saturday evening they offer live music from the best local bands.
Boston has a proud sporting status, with a variety of teams and associations in the area encompassing a range of sports. The town’s principal sports team, Boston United, play in the centre of town, competing in the National League North, and were recently a football league club. Their nickname ‘The Pilgrims’ is again a reference to the explorers whose legacy can be found throughout the town to this day (the Pilgrim Hospital and Mayflower Road are notable examples).

Boston has a conveniently located Train Station, which is within walking distance of our office. The rail network offers good links to Nottingham, Lincoln, Sleaford, Grantham and Newark.
The bus station is also close to our office and the train station, it offers services to other villages in the area, between Boston and Lincoln.
